Micronova Nanofab - Tommy Holmqvist appointed to the Coordinator

Micronova Nanofabrication Centre Nanofab is a joint organization of VTT and Aalto University, School of Science and Technology offering cleanroom services on common basis from January 1, 2010.

At this point the new organization is based on a collaboration agreement and personnel from both host organizations, altogether 20 people, are working for the new Nanofab. For cleanroom users, companies and academic users, this renewal offers access to the whole cleanroom area in Micronova and it makes the processing services available in a larger range.

Coordinator Appointment

M.Sc. Tommy Holmqvist was appointed to Nanofabrication Centre\\\'s, Nanofab, Coordinator from January 1, 2010.

As the Coordinator, Tommy will work closely together with VTT?s and Aalto University School of Science and Technology\'s technical staff, as well as researchers and also acts as a link between the outside users and Micronova?s units. Tommy will be in charge of:

- developing services for outside users of Nanofab?s facilities
- giving technical support for the users
- organising user training
- developing process support functions at Micronova Nanofab
- marketing of Micronova Nanofab?s services for companies and academic users

Tommy is a well known face to most people on the Aalto Univesity side of Micronova. As the new coordinator for Nanofab he will soon be an equally familiar face on the VTT side. He was born and raised in Skåne in the very south of Sweden but has stayed in Finland for almost six years now. He is preparing to defend his PhD thesis under the instruction of Prof. Jukka Pekola in PICO group. The thesis is about thermometry at low temperatures using normal metal tunnel junctions as probes.

"As Coordinator in Micronova Nanofab I will certainly benefit from the thesis work since it has involved a lot of work inside the cleanroom. So, please contact me in any matters related to cleanroom services", says Tommy.

Outside work Tommy likes to cook and enjoys reading a good book with the main interest in popular history. To stay in shape he jogs regularly.
